Supportive & integrative care

Integrative Support for Autoimmune Conditions in Aptos, CA

Living with an autoimmune condition usually means managing something rather than resolving it. At Trilogy Medical in Aptos, Dr. Jeff Lester, D.O. provides integrative support for patients with autoimmune conditions, working alongside their rheumatologist, endocrinologist or gastroenterologist — rather than in place of them.

What this page is and is not offering

This is supportive care. It is intended to sit alongside the treatment directed by your specialist, and it is not a replacement for it. We do not advise patients to stop immunosuppressant, biologic or disease-modifying medication, and you should never do so without the specialist who prescribed it. For many autoimmune conditions those medications prevent permanent damage, and stopping them can cause harm that cannot be undone.

We do not claim to reverse or resolve autoimmune disease. What integrative care can contribute is real but narrower.

Support for how you feel day to day, attention to the contributors that specialist appointments rarely have time for, and a physician who looks at the whole picture.

Where integrative care helps

Where integrative care can genuinely help

  • Fatigue — frequently the most disabling symptom and the least addressed
  • Sleep quality — which affects inflammation, pain and mood directly
  • Digestive symptoms — common both with autoimmune conditions and with the medications used to treat them
  • Diet and nutritional status — including deficiencies that develop with chronic inflammation or absorption problems
  • Stress and nervous system regulation — which patients consistently report as a flare trigger
  • Mood — since living with a chronic condition takes a genuine toll that is often left unspoken
  • Constitutional homeopathy — prescribed on the whole pattern of the person rather than on the diagnosis alone

Conditions we support

Conditions patients come to us with

Rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and other thyroid autoimmunity, lupus, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel conditions, psoriasis and eczema with an autoimmune component, and undifferentiated conditions where symptoms are clear but the diagnosis is not yet settled.

Each is different and the plan follows the person rather than the label.

Not yet diagnosed

If you do not yet have a diagnosis

A number of people arrive here with fatigue, joint pain, skin changes and a sense that something is wrong, without a name for it. That is worth taking seriously.

As a licensed physician, Dr. Lester can assess you, order or interpret testing, and refer you to a rheumatologist or specialist where that is what is indicated. Getting a diagnosis is not an obstacle to integrative care; it is usually the thing that makes it more useful.

Realistic expectations

A realistic view

Some patients find their energy improves, flares become less frequent, and daily symptoms become easier to live with. Some find particular contributors — often sleep, gut function or stress — were doing more damage than they realised.

And some find their condition continues largely as it was, with the benefit being in how supported they feel managing it. You will get an honest assessment at your first visit rather than a promise.

FAQ

Autoimmune support questions, answered

Can autoimmune disease be treated naturally?

Integrative care can support how you feel and address contributors such as sleep, diet, gut function and stress. It is not a replacement for the treatment directed by your specialist, and we do not claim to resolve autoimmune conditions.

Should I stop my immunosuppressant or biologic?

No. Never stop or change these medications without the specialist who prescribed them. For many conditions they prevent permanent damage.

Do you work with my rheumatologist?

Yes. This is supportive care designed to sit alongside specialist treatment, and we are glad to coordinate.

What if I do not have a diagnosis yet?

Dr. Lester can assess you, order or interpret testing, and refer you to a specialist where that is indicated. A clear diagnosis usually makes integrative care more effective, not less.

Can homeopathy help with autoimmune fatigue?

Some patients report improvement in energy and daily symptoms with constitutional treatment. Results vary considerably between individuals and you will get a realistic view at your first visit.
