Can I Get Laser Treatments Instead of a Facelift?

Not everyone wants to endure the recovery or expense of surgical facelift procedures, but the signs of aging are exempt for nobody. So how does someone with fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, sun damage, and imperfect texture and tone improve their skin? Laser skin resurfacing treatments are anelegant solution that can help you avoid unwanted surgery, and at Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics we can help.

How Do Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments Work?

By using varying forms of energy, laser skin resurfacing corrects sun damage, texture imperfections, acne scarring, and more. Nonablative lasers don’t damage the outer layer of the dermis as they stimulate the tissues beneath, while ablative lasers cause controlled, microscopic injury to the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are two of the main components of skin elasticity and replication, which help your complexion stay supple and younger looking. By heating the tissues in the dermis with either light or varying wavelengths of energy, lasers can trigger a healing response in your skin, signal new cell growth, and restore a youthful glow that over-the-counter products can’t achieve. Our Harmony XL Pro by Alma lasers is the ideal choice for patients with mature skin with little or no laxity, and can correct textural concerns and discoloration, and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

The addition of Stem Cell Serum after laser resurfacing treatments gives you a much better boost to collagen and new skin cell growth, intensifying and prolonging your results and providing your skin with an extra helping of stimulation for healing.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Procedure, Aftercare, and Results

The laser skin resurfacing procedure doesn’t take long, depending on the size of the area of treatment and the severity of the issues being treated. Average sessions last between 20-30 minutes, with patients arriving an hour early to receive topical anesthetic if required. Total procedure time is approximately 2 hours.

The aftercare instructions will include all the information necessary for proper care of your skin after a laser resurfacing treatment. It’s important to adhere to these instructions as closely as possible to avoid complications. Patients can expect some soreness and redness to the skin (much like a sunburn) and should avoid sun exposure as much as possible for a week after treatment. The use of sunscreen is always recommended.

Results vary with the intensity of the laser treatment, the severity of the patient’s skin concerns and their individual healing capabilities, and the specific treatment being performed. In the weeks following treatment, as the skin heals and new cells replace damaged cells, and as collagen production ramps up, patients will experience renewed skin cell growth and a lightening of dark spots and sun damage, as well as minimized wrinkles and lines, and improved texture and tone. A proper skin care maintenance regimen can prolong the results of the resurfacing treatment, and the application of Stem Cell Serum for 60 days can help, as well.

The signs of aging don’t have to be something we accept as inevitable. At Trilogy Medical & Aesthetics, our treatments are designed to promote healing and wellness of the whole person, including self-confidence and happiness. Our laser skin resurfacing treatments are just one way we can help.
